Teddington Lock 2020: lock restriction notice

Updated 23 December 2020

This notice was withdrawn on

River restriction no longer in force.

When

From 20 December 2020 until further notice.

Where

Teddington Lock.

Details

Due to COVID Tier 4 restrictions, passage through Teddington Lock will be available from 9am – 3pm. We will be offering tidal transits between these times.

As the self-service facility is not possible at Teddington, transit will not be possible through the night and from 3pm until 9am, the lock will be closed to traffic.

We will be reviewing this in line with government guidance and return back to a full 24 hour service as soon as we can.

Visiting licences will not be available at the lock but can be purchased by phoning our Boat Renewal Line on 0330 159 1983.

If a tidal transit is needed that doesn’t fall between 9am – 3pm, please call 02089408723 and leave a message in advance and a member of our team will get back to you.

Guidance for using the Lock

Transiting through the lock will be practiced with social distancing.

Members of staff will be on site to operate the pedestal but will have limited ability to assist with ropes in order to keep a safe distance.

We recommend at least one crew member to be present to manage ropes and react to any incident that may occur.

Skippers and passengers are to remain on vessels while in the lock and follow instruction from the lock keeper.

Please do not congregate once on a mooring.

If heading onto the tideway, please make sure you have booked with Brentford or other suitable lock or mooring. Please arrive with plenty of time and wait on the layby for instructions from the lock keeper.
