From Wednesday 1 July, assisted passage through Teddington Lock will be available from 7am to 9pm and for boats wishing to use the lock as a gateway on or off the non-tidal Thames, we will be offering one tidal transit every 24 hours.
For safety reasons, members of the public cannot operate Teddington Lock themselves. Therefore transit will not be possible through the night and from 9pm until 7am, the lock will be closed to traffic.
We will be regularly reviewing this as the boating season progresses with a view to return back to a full 24hr service as soon as we can.
Please note: short period launch registrations and annual unpowered registrations can be purchased at the lock between 7am and 9pm. They can also be purchased in advance by phoning our National Customer Contact Centre Boat Registration Renewal Line on 0330 159 1983 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm).
Guidance for using the Lock
- transiting through the lock will be practiced with social distancing
- members of staff will be on site to operate the pedestal but will have limited ability to assist with ropes in order to keep a safe distance
- we recommend at least one crew member to be present to manage ropes and react to any incident that may occur
- charges apply for use of 24hour moorings
- skippers and passengers are to remain on vessels throughout the whole process and are not to congregate once on a mooring
- if heading onto the tideway, please make sure you have booked with Brentford or other suitable lock or mooring. Please arrive with plenty of time and wait on the layby for instructions from the lock keeper
If you are planning a Tidal journey there is now no need to contact us to book. Please use the scheduled transit times below.
