Team Van Oord Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence .

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to remove a weir which is an obstruction or impediment to the flow of the River Teme at Powick Weir upstream of Old Powick Bridge at National Grid Reference SO 83190 52412.

The central section of the existing weir will be removed to provide environmental improvement by reinstating free fish passage to enable fish to migrate upstream. It will be undertaken as part of the ‘Unlocking the Severn’ project in partnership with Natural England and the Environment Agency.
