Tarmac Trading Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract groundwater from underground strata at Wasing Quarry between National Grid References (NGRs): SU 57510 66235, SU 58045 66360, SU 58560 65730, SU 57265 65115 for the purpose of transferring without intervening use to reaches between NGRs SU 57200 65100 and SU 58407 66040, SU 58020 65090 and SU 57790 65830, SU 58310 65235 and SU 58735 65875, SU 57510 66185 and SU 58026 66020, and SU 58053 65804 and SU 58545 65868.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 660 cubic metres an hour
  • 15,810 cubic metres a day
  • 5,770,650 cubic metres a year
  • At an instantaneous rate of 200 litres per second

Abstraction will take place all year.
