Tarmac Trading Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number 03/28/22/0070 which authorises the abstraction of groundwater from a lagoon fed by underground strata comprising of River Terrace Gravel Deposits at National Grid Reference SK 18230 14820 Alrewas Quarry, Staffordshire.

The variation applied for is: to increase quantities permitted for concrete production, from 20 cubic metres per day and 5,000 cubic metres per year, to 40 cubic metres per day and 10,909 cubic metres per year. The existing licenced quantities are 8,540 cubic metres per day and 2,044,900 cubic metres per year for the purposes of mineral washing, dust suppression and concrete production.
