Details of the application

Tarmac Trading Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number NE/027/0015/018 to abstract water from underground strata at Swinden Quarry between National Grid References: SD 97188 61393, SD 98324 62092, SD 98504 61658 and SD 97652 60975 for the purpose of transferring it without intervening use to Mires beck at SD 98739 61594.

The variation applied for is to increase licenced quantities to:

  • 650 cubic metres an hour
  • 14,555 cubic metres a day
  • 4,200,000 cubic metres a year
  • at an instantaneous rate not exceeding 190 litres per second.
