Tarmac Trading Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence serial number NW/068/0002/010 which authorises the abstraction of water from underground strata comprising of glacial sand deposits (two groundwater fed lagoons) at Eaton Hall Quarry, Manchester Road, Congleton.
The variation applied for is to change the area of abstraction for the purpose of dredging (conveying materials), increase the quantities of abstraction for the purpose of mineral washing and change the area of abstraction for the purpose of transfer to maintain water levels.

Water used on site for the purpose of mineral washing is discharged to a stream at National Grid Reference SJ 85750 65621 under Environmental Permit number NPSWQD003822.
