Tarmac Trading Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water via a transfer licence from Trent Valley Sand and Gravels at Langford Quarry, Collingham, Newark within the area between National Grid References SK 80812 60835, SK 80997 60744, SK 81643 59526, SK 81377 59201, SK 80747 59496, SK 80260 59901 and SK 80300 60276 to transfer it to the main lake at Langford Quarry and then into the Langford Lowfields Nature Reserve (RSPB) at National Grid Reference SK 81600 59730 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 540 cubic metres an hour
  • 12,960 cubic metres a day
  • 4,536,000 cubic metres a year
  • Period of abstraction – all year.

Further details are: This licence application is to dewater a quarry, the proposal is non-consumptive as water is moved from the quarry void to the adjacent wetland nature reserve, in partnership with the RSPB, and the reserve is in continuity with the sands and gravels. Therefore, all abstracted water is returned to the environment.
