Details of the application

Tarmac Trading Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 8 of The Water Abstraction (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017.

The Environment Agency has received the following abstraction licence application within the Bristol Avon and Little Avon catchment.

The application is for a licence to transfer water as follows:

  • at an instantaneous rate of 240 litres per second
  • 864 cubic metres an hour
  • 16,752 cubic metres a day
  • 4,008,854 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year
  • an area between National Grid References ST 69500 47845; ST 70000 47790; ST 70240 47410; and ST 69575 47300
  • an area between National Grid References ST 70190 47330; ST 70295 47410; ST 70535 47295; and ST 70425 47175
  • from abstraction location underground strata comprising limestone at Halecombe Quarry, Leigh upon Mendip, Somerset.

The water will be used for transfer for the purpose of dewatering.
