Details of the application

Tarmac Trading Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from underground strata (upper chalk) at Thurrock Marine Terminal, West Thurrock, Essex at National Grid Reference TQ 57388 76868.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 3.3 cubic metres an hour
  • 80 cubic metres a day
  • 24,000 cubic metres a year
  • All year.

The water will be used for washing marine gravels. The water would be discharged (under an existing consent, SWR356) to the nearby River Thames at National Grid Reference TQ 57295 76765.
