Tarmac Trading Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from underground strata comprising sands and gravels at Bellhouse Quarry, Warren Lane, Stanway, Colchester, Essex between National Grid Reference TL 95836 22977 and National Grid Reference TL 95285 22821.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 350 cubic metres an hour
- 2,500 cubic metres a day
- 25,000 cubic metres a year
All year.
The water will be used for filling a lined lagoon for the subsequent purposes of mineral washing and concrete processing.
