Details of the application

Tarmac Aggregates Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a variation to licence 28/39/22/0039 to abstract water from the sand and gravel aquifer that feeds a water feature that is within the following National Grid References SU 57690 65330, SU 57740 65420, SU 57660 65380 and SU 57600 65500 at Wasing Quarry, Woolhampton, West Berkshire.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 540 cubic metres an hour
  • 2,318.51 cubic metres a day
  • 429,555 cubic metres a year
  • Allowable 365 days per year.

The water will be used for mineral washing, dust suppression and general or process washing.
