Details of the application
The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010 from NNB Generation Company (HPC) Limited.
Regulated facility type
Water Management Zone
Regulated facility location
Construction site at Hinkley Point C power station
National grid reference discharge point
ST 20375 46165
Trade effluent consisting of pumped groundwater
7,776 cubic metres per day (initial drawdown) and 2,160 cubic metres per day (steady state)
The proposal is to vary the permit to reduce the volume of groundwater discharged to the estuary, to discharge the groundwater without treatment, and amend the national grid references for two discharge points so that they accurately reflect the site plan in the permit.
