T & R Theakston Limited : application made to abstract water

T & R Theakston Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the Millstone Grit near Masham, Ripon at National Grid Reference (NGR) SE 22288 80778.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 5.6 cubic metres an hour
- 134 cubic metres a day
- 27,000 cubic metres a year
The water will be used primarily for the brewing process with a limited amount used in the visitors centre.
T & R Theakston Limited have an existing abstraction licence (2/27/22/017) to abstract water at NGR SE 22295 80756. The yearly quantity on this licence will be aggregated with their new licence to allow a maximum annual abstraction of no greater than 27,000 cubic metres.
