During week 8, all respiratory indicators remained stable or continued to decrease and were at or below seasonally expected levels. There were decreases in most gastroenteritis syndromic indicators, with decreases noted in children under 5 years of age in most systems.

Remote health advice syndromic surveillance system

During week 8, NHS 111 triaged calls and online assessments for acute respiratory infections decreased, remaining below baseline levels. Triaged calls for diarrhoea and vomiting decreased, particularly in children under the age of 5 years.

GP in-hours syndromic surveillance system

During week 8, GP in-hours consultation rates for upper respiratory tract infections decreased to seasonally expected levels. Consultation rates for lower respiratory tract infections also decreased, remaining below seasonally expected levels. GP consultation rates for diarrhoea remained stable, though gastroenteritis and vomiting consultation rates decreased.

GP out-of-hours syndromic surveillance system

During week 8, GP out-of-hours daily contacts for gastroenteritis, including diarrhoea and vomiting, decreased, particularly in children aged under 5 years. Contacts for acute respiratory infections, including influenza-like illness decreased slightly while ‘acute bronchitis or bronchiolitis’ remained stable.

Emergency department (ED) syndromic surveillance system

During week 8, ED attendances for all respiratory infection indicators either remained stable or decreased and were in line with or below seasonally expected levels. ED gastroenteritis attendances decreased, particularly in children under 5 years of age.

Ambulance syndromic surveillance system

During week 8, daily ambulance dispatch calls for difficulty breathing continued to decrease. Daily calls for ‘impact of heat or cold’ were stable and similar to levels expected for the time of year.
