During week 19, there was rising numbers of NHS 111 triaged calls and online assessments for diarrhoea, particularly in the 15 to 44 year age group, and increases in GP out of hours daily contacts for gastroenteritis, diarrhoea and vomiting. Despite a small increase in the consultation rates for upper respiratory infection in the GP in-hours syndromic surveillance system, consultation rates for acute respiratory infection indicators were otherwise stable.

During week 19, NHS 111 diarrhoea triaged calls and online assessments increased nationally and are above seasonally expected levels. Triaged assessments for vomiting also increased and are above seasonally expected levels. Increases in these syndromes were mainly in the 15 to 44 years age group.

GP in-hours syndromic surveillance system

During week 19, despite a small increase in the consultation rates for upper respiratory tract infections, consultation rates for acute respiratory infection indicators were otherwise stable. Consultation rates for gastroenteritis, diarrhoea and vomiting increased slightly and were above seasonally expected levels. Allergic rhinitis consultation rates decreased slightly.

During week 19, GP out-of-hours daily contacts for gastroenteritis, diarrhoea and vomiting continued to increase, remaining above expected levels. Increases in these syndromes were mainly observed in the 15 to 44 years age group.

Emergency department syndromic surveillance system

During week 19, ED attendances for respiratory conditions remained stable or decreasing and below seasonally expected levels. ED gastroenteritis attendances were stable and below baseline.

Ambulance syndromic surveillance system

During week 19, daily ambulance calls for chest pain were stable but remained above seasonally expected levels.
