During week 31, syndromic indicators for the impact of heat remained stable across the week as a whole, though mid-week increases (and subsequent decreases) were noted in some systems.

During week 31, NHS 11 triaged calls and online assessments for ‘heat exposure or sunburn’ remained stable. NHS 111 online assessments for diarrhoea decreased but remained above seasonally expected levels.

GP in-hours syndromic surveillance system

During week 31, the GP in-hours consultation rate for ‘heat or sunstroke’ was stable overall and at baseline levels, although a small spike in activity was noted on Thursday 30 July, which then returned to expected levels. Consultation rates for gastroenteritis and vomiting decreased slightly but remained above expected levels.

During week 31, daily ‘heat or sunstroke’ contacts were stable, while insect bites contacts continued to decrease.

During week 31, ED attendances for ‘heat or sunstroke’ remained stable across the week as a whole.

Ambulance syndromic surveillance system

During week 31, daily ambulance calls for ‘impact of heat’ were stable overall, however there was a mid-week spike in call numbers, which decreased at the weekend.
