Reporting week 28: 7 to 13 July 2025
During week 28, there were increases across all ‘impact of heat’ indicators during the latter part of the reporting week, in line with an amber heat health alert in place across England. Insect bite indicators also increased, particularly during the weekend of 12 to 13 July.
Remote health advice syndromic surveillance system
During week 28, NHS 111 online assessments and triaged calls for ‘heat exposure or sunburn’ increased from mid-week, in line with the amber heat health alert across England. NHS 111 contacts in general for insect bites increased during week 28.

GP in-hours syndromic surveillance system
During week 28, the GP in-hours consultation rates for ‘heat or sunstroke’ and insect bites increased during the reporting week, peaking on Friday 11 July in line with an amber heat health alert in place across England. There was an increase in consultation rate for measles during week 28.

GP out-of-hours syndromic surveillance system
During week 28, GP out-of-hours daily contacts for heat or sunstroke increased, in line with the amber heat health alert across England. Fever and insect bites also increased but remain at seasonally expected levels.

During week 28, emergency department (ED) attendances for ‘heat or sunstroke’ increased, in line with an amber heat health alert in place across England.

During week 28, daily ambulance dispatch calls for impact of heat increased, peaking on Friday 11 July, then decreasing over the weekend, in line with the amber heat health alert in place across England.
