Syndromic surveillance summary: 4 August 2022 week 30

During week 30 there were further decreases in syndromic coronavirus (COVID-19)-like indicators across all regions and age groups.

Remote health advice syndromic surveillance system

NHS 111 calls and online assessments for ‘potential COVID-19’ continued to decrease during week 30.

GP in hours syndromic surveillance system

During week 30 there were further decreases in GP in-hours ‘COVID-19-like’ consultations. GP consultations for diarrhoea increased slightly, mainly in adults aged 65 years and older. Scarlet fever and chickenpox consultations both continued to decrease in week 30 and are at seasonally expected levels.

GP out of hours syndromic surveillance system

During week 30, all respiratory indicators decreased or remained stable and are within seasonally expected levels. Please note: due to a continuing technical issue, GP out-of-hours contacts were not received from a number of out of hours providers during week 30 and therefore trends presented in this report should be interpreted with some caution. We are working to rectify this issue.

Emergency department syndromic surveillance system

During week 30, COVID-19-like attendances continued to decrease across all regions and age groups.

Ambulance syndromic surveillance system

COVID-19-like and difficulty breathing ambulance calls continued to decrease during week 30.
