During week 51, emergency department (ED) attendances for COVID-19-like illness continued to increase.

Remote health advice syndromic surveillance system

During week 51, NHS 111 calls and online assessments for sore throat continued to increase nationally, notably in adults 15 years and over. NHS 111 calls for potential COVID-19 also increased over the past week.

GP in hours syndromic surveillance system

During week 51, GP consultation rates for respiratory conditions remained stable, or decreased.

GP out of hours syndromic surveillance system

During week 51, GP out-of-hours contacts for acute respiratory infections remained stable.

Emergency department syndromic surveillance system

During week 51, COVID-19-like ED attendances continued to increase.

Ambulance syndromic surveillance system

Please note: nationally, ambulance trusts have restarted using the ‘pandemic’ triage card for assessing COVID-19 patients. Other syndromic indicators (for example ‘difficulty breathing’ and ‘chest pain’) should therefore be interpreted with caution.
