During week 49, GP in hours consultations for conjunctivitis and NHS 111 eye problems calls remained elevated in children under 5 years of age.

Remote health advice syndromic surveillance system

During week 49, NHS 111 and online assessments for sore throat increased nationally, with increases noted in children 5 to 14 years and adults 15 to 64 years and in the East of England and London regions. Calls and online assessments for eye problems remain elevated and above baseline levels, however previous increases reported in children have now stabilised.

GP in hours syndromic surveillance system

During week 49, GP consultation rates for lower respiratory infections increased particularly in adults aged over 45 years. Consultation rates for conjunctivitis continued to increase, with marked increases particularly noted in children aged under 1 and 1 to 4 years. Consultations for gastroenteritis and vomiting increased in the 5 to 14 years age group.

GP out of hours syndromic surveillance system

During week 49, COVID-19-like emergency department attendances increased slightly, particularly in adults aged 15 to 44 years and London, however attendances for other respiratory indicators decreased or remained stable.

Ambulance syndromic surveillance system

During week 49, ambulance calls for most syndromic indicators decreased or remained stable nationally.
