Details of the application

Sutton and Mepal Internal Drainage Board has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 8 of The Water Abstraction (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017.

The Environment Agency has received the following abstraction licence application within the Old Bedford including the Middle Level catchment.

The application is for a licence to transfer water as follows:

  • at an instantaneous rate of 841 litres per second
  • 3,025 cubic metres an hour
  • 72,661 cubic metres a day
  • 26,521,776 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year
  • at National Grid References TL 41477 78508, TL 38552 78361, TL 46827 85816 and TL 44166 82138
  • from abstraction location Counter Drain at Argents Farm, Holewood Farm, Kings Farm & Mepal Pumping Station, Sutton, Cambridgeshire.

The water will be used for transfer for the purpose of IDB functions.
