Guidance for DWP staff who suspend or terminate payment of benefit or defer a decision on a benefit claim.

     Added text in paragraph 2200: It is recommended that the suspension is looked at again after a maximum of 1 month by a different decision maker to determine if the suspension can be lifted.

This guidance is for staff who suspend or terminate payment of benefit or stay (defer) a decision on a benefit claim. A decision may be stayed if it involves a point of law being challenged in the courts in another case.
