Summary log templates for UK packaging waste

Templates for the summary logs that reprocessors and exporters need to produce under Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for packaging.

  1. Updated supplementary guidance to improve field descriptions for unrecycled packaging waste sent on, bill of lading reference number, date received by overseas reprocessor and Basel export codes.

  2. Replaced the registered-only templates to fix minor usability issues.

  3. Added the registered-only summary log templates, and updated the supplementary guidance to reflect this.

  4. Replaced all summary log templates with new versions to fix technical issues. Previous versions did not allow a full stop before the domain name in email address fields. The exporter log now allows '001' in the 'Approved overseas reprocessor's ID' and 'Interim site ID' fields - previous versions would reduce it to '1'.

  5. Corrected the format required for section 1, column T of the accredited exporter log. This field is not automatically calculated, it needs to be a number given to 2 decimal places.

  6. Technical fixes to some of the template functionality

  7. Added the new template for reprocessors issuing on outputs. Added the latest version of the templates for reprocessors issuing on packaging waste received and exporters, which have small usability improvements.

  8. Added example summary log template for accredited exporters and updated supplementary guidance with data field descriptions for the exporter summary log.

  9. Replaced the 'Accredited reprocessors issuing on packaging waste received' template with a version that does not pre-select a material.

Details

Reprocessors and exporters need to use summary logs to record data about packaging waste received or exported for recycling. Summary logs are spreadsheets that you need to complete for each registration or accreditation that you hold. 

The template you need will depend on your organisation and operating activity:

  • reprocessor summary logs focus on the waste received by reprocessors at their UK reprocessing sites
  • exporter summary logs capture each load exported to overseas reprocessing sites

The templates may change as we receive feedback. We expect future changes to be usability improvements rather than changes to data fields although this is not guaranteed.
