Details of the application

Suffolk Wildlife Trust has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from the River Waveney at National Grid Reference TM 49733 93875 to transfer it to Peto’s Marsh without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 260 cubic metres an hour
  • 3,114 cubic metres a day
  • 109,000 cubic metres a year
  • between October and March inclusive in each year

The proposed abstraction lies within the Broadland Catchment Abstraction Management Strategy (CAMS) reporting area and will aid the creation of a wetland at Peto’s Marsh.
