Details

Structural reform plans are key tools for holding departments accountable for the implementation of programme for government commitments, replacing the old top-down systems of targets and central micromanagement. Our plan sets out our top seven departmental structural reform priorities, which are to:

  • empower the public to hold the police to account for their role in cutting crime
  • free up the police to fight crime more effectively and efficiently 
  • create a more integrated criminal justice system
  • secure our borders and reduce immigration
  • protect people’s freedoms and civil liberties
  • protect our citizens from terrorism
  • build a fairer and more equal society

The draft structural reform plan published in July 2010 has been replaced by the Home Office business plan 2011-15, which has now been updated to the Home Office business plan 2012-2015.

The draft structural reform plan and previous monthly update reports are available below. New structural reform plans will be published on the Number 10 transparency website.
