This forms part of a contract to set up a framework of suppliers (the strategic supplier group, or SSG) for the Identity and Passport Service (IPS) as lead agency, to support contracts forming part of the National Identity Scheme (NIS).
The framework contract enabled successful bidders from the SSG framework to take part in mini-competitions for each NIS contract such as identity cards, and a new passport application and enrolment contract as well as replacing other administrative and support capabilities used by IPS.
