Statistics on recurring door supervision licence renewals

1. Request

Please can you provide:

  1. The number of individuals licensed as an SIA door supervisor who are on their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th licensed period of 3 years. I would like this data for the previous 10 years to date.

  2. The number of SIA door supervisor licence holders who only maintain a licence for a single licensing period of 3 years and do not continue with maintaining a valid SIA licence after that point.

I can confirm that the SIA does hold this information.

2.1 Question 1

This information has been provided to you by way of an Excel Spreadsheet, attached. Please select tab Q1 for the answers to this part of the request. Please be aware that licence holders are able to renew their licence up to 4 months prior to the expiry of their current active licence.

The spreadsheet uses the following criteria:

  • Information refreshed as of 9 January 2024.
  • Active door supervision licence holders as of 1 January, from 2013 until 2024.
  • Broken down by how many door supervisor licences the contact has ever held up to that date.
  • We are not considering replaced licences or cancelled licences.
  • We are not restricting ‘renewals’ to those within the 3 year licence lifecycle period.

2.2 Question 2

This information has been provided to you by way of an Excel Spreadsheet, attached. Please select tab Q2 for the answers to this part of the request. Please be aware that licence holders are able to renew their licence up to 4 months prior to the expiry of their current active licence.

The spreadsheet uses the following criteria:

  • Information refreshed as of 9 January 2024
  • Count of door supervisor licence holders by expiry date of their licences by number of licence renewed
  • It is known that some licence holders may have missed the renewal window deadline (4 months prior to their active expiry licence date). We set an extra 6 months post-expired licence date, giving enough time for the licence holders to re-apply. Therefore, data on 2023 and 2024 is not complete.
  • We are not considering replaced licences or cancelled licences.
