Details
HM Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) published its State of Policing 2022 report in June 2023. It included recommendations on:
- the responsibility of police and crime commissioners (PCCs), and other bodies, to respond to HMICFRS reports
- HMICFRS’s role in chief officer appointments
- the inspection of policing services commissioned by PCCs
- the power to give directions in relation to a police force
- the power to direct resources in support of underperforming forces
