About this data
This data covers senior foreign dignitaries (‘principals’) invited to the UK:
- on a State visit by His Majesty The King
- as Guests of Government by the Prime Minister or the Foreign Secretary
What costs FCDO covers
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) pays for:
- accommodation
- transport
- food and incidentals (within a set limit)
This applies to the visiting delegation (principal plus up to 10 officials) during the official programme only.
The visiting government pays for international travel.
What is included in staff costs
The ‘staff costs’ column includes:
- UK government staff travel and accommodation
- incidental expenses
It does not include salary costs.
