An application has been made to the Environment Agency by Staples Vegetables Limited. The Environment Agency are required to give notice of this application.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the Wainfleet Haven or Steeping River at Wainfleet St Mary, Lincolnshire, National Grid Reference TF 50022 58638.

The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates and periods:

  • 113 cubic metres an hour
  • 2,273 cubic metres a day
  • 27,276 cubic metres a year
  • 21.4 litres per second

Between 1 January to 31 March inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for filling a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation.

The licence will be aggregated with licence AN/030/0013/002, held by Staples Brothers Limited, so that the combined abstraction under both licences may not exceed:

  • 113 cubic metres per hour
  • 2,273 cubic metres per day
  • 27,276 cubic metres per year
  • 31.5 litres per second
