Stakeholders the SIA has consulted since 2021

Published 22 May 2025

Request

Please provide a list of the stakeholders, organisations, or individuals that the Security Industry Authority regularly consults with regarding:

  • the potential introduction of business licensing in the private security industry
  • the possible removal of the in-house exemption

If available, please also include any relevant consultation groups, advisory panels, or committees that the SIA engages with on these specific matters.

Response

The SIA does hold this information.

There was engagement with the industry during the development of the proposals on business licensing and in-house licensing, including interviews conducted during the Home Office commissioned research. However, this is not “regular” as it was engagement for an exceptional project.

There is no ongoing engagement specifically on the SIA’s proposals for the above. This is because the engagement work to develop the proposals is already complete and there are no additional questions to ask at this point. Following the publication of the Manchester Arena Inquiry report and recommendations, the SIA engaged with the industry stakeholders to inform the development of its response and proposals to two key recommendations from the Inquiry: business licensing (MR8) and in-house licensing (MR7). Activities included interviews conducted during the Home Office commissioned research.
