Amending the regulations imposing anti-dumping or countervailing duties on certain steel products subject to safeguard measures.
The Commission announced, in Regulation No 2019/1382, OJ ref.L227 dated 2 September 2019, that where the 25% safeguard duty becomes payable (because the quota is exhausted) on certain steel imports in chapters 72 and 73 of the Tariff, any anti-dumping or countervailing duty also in force will be adjusted or suspended as appropriate, with immediate effect.
Any anti-dumping duty or countervaling duty suspensions are limited to the period that the 25% safeguard must be paid, it does not apply when the quota is available.
The anti-dumping duty or countervailing duty regulations concerned and the adjusted rates are detailed in the annexes of Regulation No 2019/1382.
As a consequence of the exhaustion of quota 098871 the countervailing duty on stainless steel bars and rods originating in India will be suspended from 30 January 2020 to 31 January 2020 as follows.
