We have a received a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for the following:
“Please can you confirm that the Publication 18/89 Paragraph 2.3 specifies the requirement for equipment used for calibration purposes to be tested using equipment traceable to national standards.
Then is it expected these standards should be traceable the National Physical Laboratory the UK’s national standards laboratory. This laboratory is controlled and operated by UKAS(United Kingdom Accreditation Service). You in turn expect test instruments used by manufacturers for the calibration of type approved traffic enforcement devices to be themselves calibrated by a UKAS accredited body which will ensure its accuracy can be traced to the national standard.”
