Details

This is a competitive process which seeks to offer grants likely to be between £50,000 and £100,000 for each award. The scheme is being run to support the aims and objectives of the UK Space Agency’s Inspiration Programme, contributing to its Inspiration priority under its Corporate Plan 2022-25, helping to deliver growth under the National Space Strategy and inspire our future space workforce.

Please read the attached guidance and use the application form to apply for a grant. Do not forget to request interim payments if needed.

Where applicants are limited companies or registered charities, they will be required to include their company or charity numbers on the application form to enable due diligence checks.

Applicants who opt to work with project partners will be responsible for conducting assurance checks on those partners and will need to submit a partner assurance statement (for details please refer to the Grant Call Guidance).

Successful applicants will be offered a grant and the template, which can be found above, should be read carefully before applying. If applicants need to propose minor changes to the wording, they should engage with the call lead before the close of the application window and advice will be provided (doing so in no way affects the selection of successful applicants).

For successful applicants, project work which will be grant-funded (including extensions to existing projects) should not start until the grant agreement is signed by both parties. Applicants should aim to complete grant-funded work on projects before 21 March 2025 to allow for payment before the financial year end, and certainly by no later than 31 March 2025. Projects are expected to continue beyond initial UK Space Agency grant-funding.

As this is anticipated to be an extremely popular, competitive and oversubscribed grant call, particular attention should be focused on best meeting the evaluation criteria outlined in the Grant Call Guidance when applying.

We anticipate the following schedule:

  • opening of award scheme – 1 September 2023

  • deadline for proposals to be received – 5pm 27 October 2023

  • outcome notification – w/c 27 November 2023

  • grant-funded project work to start no earlier than – 4 December 2023

  • grant-funded project work to be completed by – 21 March 2025

Additional funding may be available subject to business case approvals.
