Details of the application

Southern Water Services Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number 10/41/431002 which authorises the abstraction of groundwater from 8 boreholes at National Grid References TQ 03 17, TQ 04 17, TQ 02 17 and TQ 03 16.

The variation applied for is to include an additional borehole at National Grid Reference TQ 03 17. As part of the application, the daily and annual abstraction quantities will be reduced and a hands-off flow condition will be added.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 30,000 cubic metres a day
  • 6,000,000 cubic metres a year
  • All year.
