Southern Water Services Limited have applied to the Environment Agency to vary a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence serial number 02/114 which authorises the abstraction of water from surface water at National Grid References TQ 71 38, TQ 69 50, TQ 75 56 and TQ 67 33.
The variation applied for is to create a seasonally variable minimum residual flow (MRF) at the gauging station. The existing MRF is set at a constant 275 megalitres per day. The proposal is to increase the MRF during the summer to 350 megalitres per day and to reduce the MRF during the winter to 200 megalitres per day.
The application also proposes to vary the special conditions on the licence to reflect a change in the release factor from the reservoir from 1:1.2 to a release factor of 1:1.1.
