South West Water Limited: application made to abstract water

South West Water Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number SW/049/0253/003 which authorises the abstraction of water from 7 boreholes at St Marys Cliffside, Isles of Scilly .

The variation applied for is: to increase the daily volume to be abstracted from 420 cubic metres per day to 525 cubic metres per day.

Further details are: this is to enable operation of the desalination plant and meet winter demand.
