An application has been made to the Environment Agency by South West Water. The Environment Agency are required to give notice of this application.

The application is for a licence to transfer water from surface water at National Grid Reference (NGR) SX 91 96 for the purpose of transferring it without intervening use to surface water at NGR SX 91 96.

The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates and periods:

  • 57,600 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,382,400 cubic metres a day
  • 504,576,000 cubic metres a year

Between April and March inclusive in each year.

The water will be abstracted for the purpose of transferring it between the sources of supply referred to above and without intervening use.

Application is also being made to vary a full licence to abstract water serial number 14/45/002/1923 which authorises the abstraction from surface water at NGR SX 91 96.

The variation applied for is to change the licence purposes from hydropower generation and amenity to transfer for the purpose of hydropower and transfer for the purpose of public water supply.

The maximum abstraction quantities will be varied to allow abstraction at the following rates and periods:

  • 1,411,400 cubic metres a day
  • 515,161,000 cubic metres a year

Between April and March inclusive in each year.
