South Staffordshire Water plc has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number 03/28/22/0081 which authorises the abstraction of water from the Sherwood Sandstone aquifer, from two boreholes at National Grid Reference SK 16 12 and SK 16 11 all year at the following quantities: 12,000 cubic metres per day and 3,650,000 cubic metres per year for the purpose of public water supply.

The variation applied for is to add an additional borehole at National Grid Reference SK 15 12 for the purpose of public water supply at the following quantities: 12,000 cubic metres per day and 3,650,000 cubic metres per year. The quantity of water will be aggregated to the existing licence quantities and not in addition to that already licenced.
