Smith & Sons (Bletchington) Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from underground strata comprised of White Limestone (Ardley Member) at Dewars Farm Quarry, Bicester. The abstraction will take place from the area contained within the boundary formed by straight lines running between the following National Grid References (NGRs): SP 54801 26008, SP 54922 25893, SP 54686 25045 and SP 54532 25063. The water will be transferred to Gagle Brook and upstream of Trow Pool at NGRs SP 54474 25071 and SP 54903 25181 respectively, without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 25 cubic metres an hour

  • 594 cubic metres a day

  • 217,000 cubic metres a year

Abstraction will take place all year.
