Examines small and medium-sized businesses’ demand for and supply of external finance, assessing the issues that they face when seeking external finance. Gives an overview of the evidence on availability for different types of finance and summarises how effective government schemes are for increasing finance to SMEs. Provides the economic analysis that underpins government policy in this area.
