Review of the UK’s skills system and how it can support individuals to make important decisions about their education.



This review provides an overview of the following:

  • how labour market and other changes can affect individuals’ learning needs
  • life and career development
  • opportunities and constraints to learning and skills development across the lifecourse
  • skills, competences and the attributes needed across the life course
  • frameworks for understanding the life course
  • the role of the education and skills system

It was commissioned as part of the Foresight Future of skills and lifelong learning project.
