Details of the application

Simon Durrant Shaw has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from surface water known as the River Bure near Buxton, Norfolk at National Grid Reference TG 24559 23676.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 42 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,000 cubic metres a day
  • 50,000 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 November and 31 March inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for filling a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation and for subsequent trickle irrigation.

The proposed abstraction lies within the Broadland Catchment Abstraction Management Strategy reporting area.
