Sibelco UK Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 8 of The Water Abstraction (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017.
The Environment Agency has received the following abstraction licence application within the Exe catchment.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water as follows:
- at an instantaneous rate of 191 litres per second
- 526 cubic metres an hour
- 5,768 cubic metres a day
- 345,365 cubic metres a year
- between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year
- in the area between National Grid References (NGRs) SX 85924 74699, SX 86000 74583, SX 85965 74544 and SX 85913 74606
- from abstraction location underground strata sands and gravels at Kingsteignton quarries, South Devon.
The water will be used for Mineral washing, Process water and Dust suppression.
