FOI release

Sheffield and Rotherham door supervisors suspended since 2018

Published 6 November 2023

1. Request

  1. How many bouncers [door supervisors] have been suspended in Sheffield and Rotherham in the last five years?
  2. How many incidents of bouncers [door supervisors] assaulting clients have there been in the above areas in the last five years?

2. Response

I can confirm that the SIA does hold some of this information.

2.1 Question 1

Please be aware that this question has been answered on the basis of the number of door supervision licence holders with a home address in Sheffield or Rotherham and this will not necessarily be the same town or city they are deployed in.

In addition to this, it is very important to note that an operative holding a door supervision licence would not necessarily be working as a door supervisor (‘bouncer’), as a result of licensing integration. For more information on what licensing integration is, please see the last heading ‘Licences that cover more than one job activity’ on our website here: Find out if you need an SIA licence.

Within the last 5 years (from 1 November 2018 to date) the following number of door supervision licences have been suspended in the following areas:

  • Sheffield – 67
  • Rotherham – 23

2.2 Question 2

The SIA does not hold this information. The SIA does not hold this level of information about individual cases of assault.
