Published 16 February 2023

This notice was withdrawn on

River restriction no longer in force.

When

Wednesday 1 March to Saturday 4 March 2023.

Where

Osney reach, Isis entrance to the River Thames from the Oxford Canal.

Details

This restriction is for initial core samples to be taken from the south railway abutments prior to bridge improvements during the overall refurbishment of Oxford Railway station.

During this time there will be a restricted river width under the railway bridge whilst core sampling work is being carried out from a pontoon work platform. Caution is to be taken by boat masters when travelling via this route and take note of any instructions given by sampling staff as to navigation past this point.

A pontoon will be moved into position to enable core samples to be taken form the railway bridge abutments in the Sheepwash channel. Subsequently the pontoon will be removed to a safe mooring when sampling work is finished.

This investigation work will be dependent on the current river conditions and may be carried out over various dates.

We apologise for any inconvenience these works cause and thank you for your patience during this time.
