Severn Trent Water Limited: applications made to abstract water

Severn Trent Water Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a new licence and to vary a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of these applications in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The new application is for a full licence to abstract water from surface water at National Grid Reference (NGR) SK 43 29.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 4,068 cubic metres an hour

  • 97,601 cubic metres a day

  • 31,350,702 cubic metres a year

The water will be used for commissioning, water quality monitoring, fish recovery, lake recirculation and public water supply.

The application to vary licence 03/28/36/0173/1/R01, which authorises abstraction from surface water at NGR SK 44 30, is to include a new water quality monitoring purpose and add new abstraction points all within 1 kilometre of the existing point of abstraction for water quality monitoring.
