Details of the application

Settle Hydro Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the River Ribble at National Grid Reference (NGR) SD 81754 64129.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 3,000 litres per second

  • 10,360 cubic metres an hour

  • 248,660 cubic metres a day

  • 60,000,000 cubic metres a year

This application is to replace Settle Hydro Limited’s existing licence, which expires on 31 March 2016, with changes. The water will be used for hydroelectric power generation.
