A list of organisations who can provide further advice and information about housing for service personnel

There are a number of organisations, charities and housing providers that support veterans , some work exclusively helping service leavers and veterans with accommodation and support.

These are some that JSHAO are aware of but it is worth checking on line for veterans accommodation in the area that you would like to settle.

  • Veterans UK is part of the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and was created in 2007 to help ex-service personnel get appropriate support from government, local authorities, independent bodies and the charity sector

  • STOLL provides housing and support to vulnerable and disabled ex-service men and women, acknowledging the sacrifices they have made for our country

  • The Royal British Legion provides lifelong support for the armed forces community, serving men and women, veterans, and their families

  • HAIG Housing is the leading UK provider of rental housing for ex-service people and the strategic housing partner for Help for Heroes

  • Riverside is a group of complementary businesses, with a charitable housing association at its core making it a major service provider of affordable housing, care and support in England and Scotland

  • Alabaré Homes for Veterans provide accommodation and specialist support for ex-service men and women who experience difficulty adjusting to civilian life.

  • AFV-Launchpad is a registered charity, providing affordable supported rental accommodation with on-site support to armed forces veterans of all ages and their partners

  • SSAFA provides lifelong support for veterans and their families

  • Veterans Aid is the major charity for UK veterans in crisis

  • Shelter gives practical housing advice and support online, in person and by phone

  • Citizens Advice provide free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities

  • Scottish Housing Guide for people leaving the armed forces and ex-service personnel

  • Housing Options Scotland helping disabled people, veterans and older people to find the right house, in the right place

  • Scottish Veterans Residences provides high quality, supported accommodation for veterans who are homeless or in need

  • Citizen Advice Scotland (CAS) provide free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities

  • Northern Ireland Housing Executive is the public housing authority for Northern Ireland

  • Army Families Federation is the independent voice of army families and works hard to improve the quality of life for army families around the world, on any aspect that is affected by the army lifestyle

  • Naval Families Federation is the independent voice of Royal Naval and Royal Marines families

  • Royal Air Force Families Federation provide a voice for the issues and concerns have about life in the RAF

  • Moneyforce the home of money guidance for UK service personnel and their families

  • Money Advice Service free and impartial advise to help you manage your money better

  • The Confederation of Service Charities (COBSEO) provides a single point of contact for interaction with government, including local government and the devolved administrations; with the Royal Household; with the private sector; and, of course, with other members of the armed forces community.
